Shipt partners with Harris Teeter for grocery delivery in Lake Wylie and Fort Mill

Grocery shopping is about to get a little easier and a lot more convenient.

Lake Wylie and Fort Mill are just two of the Charlotte towns who can benefit from Shipt, a grocery delivery service that is now delivering from 50 Harris Teeter stores throughout the Charlotte area.

Shift began its service throughout Charlotte originally only delivering from Publix stores last September. But the service has been widely popular and is expanding now to the Harris Teeter chain for delivery.

Charlotte region residents love Harris Teeter, and Shipt wanted to capitalize on that. Shipt provides service for an annual fee of $99 for orders of at least $35. As part of its launch with Harris Teeter, the company is offering $25 in free groceries to annual members who sign up prior to the launch of Shipt in their area.

Shipt offers both a desktop and mobile app that allows shoppers to peruse online the selection of groceries at their local Harris Teeter. Once shoppers select their groceries, they choose a delivery option and then check out. It is fast, simple and convenient. The service offers same-day grocery delivery, as soon as one hour after the order is placed, and delivery is free for members on orders over $35. There is a slight difference on Shipt’s item pricing versus standard in-store pricing.

In addition to providing a tremendous convenience, Shipt’s new partnership is creating jobs, as the company is currently hiring more shoppers to keep up with the increase in grocery stores and coverage areas. York County development is thriving

The Lake Wylie real estate market and local economy continue to thrive as the area welcomes new businesses as well as new housing developments.

York County is moving forward on the development fast track with plenty of new restaurant openings, grocery store openings and residential construction on the horizon in Lake Wylie and Fort Mill. There have been a lot of discussions between county staff and property developers with regard to what’s next.

A new single family subdivision is in the preliminary planning stages at SC 49 and Daimler Boulevard on more than 430 acres of land owned by Crescent Communities. Moreover, 5800 Charlotte Highway is a possible new site for a gas station, convenience store and used car lot.

Furthermore, Lakeside West Center will soon be home to a multi-tenant retail center at 429 Blucher Circle. A new restaurant could be joining the shopping plaza at 131 Evergreen Road, and a Captain D’s may go in at the Shoppes at the Landing. The Pleasant Road area of Fort Mill is also going to be home to a new German-based Lidl grocer.

As far as recreation is concerned, a new swim center is proposed for 3354 Highway 160 West on a seven-acre lot, and a gymnastics center is proposed for Maxwell Road off of Pleasant Road in Fort Mill on two and a half acres.

Fort Mill’s new Trinity Ridge features beautiful homes in idyllic setting

Growth just continues for the thriving town of Fort Mill, as a stunning new community of homes is underway.

Trinity Ridge, a beautiful new development in Fort Mill, has just opened its third and final phase of the neighborhood by JPOrleans, a Philadelphia-based homebuilder. The firm purchased approximately 100 acres of land from the developer and has created 63 homesites.

The lots will all be generously sized, averaging over an acre, and they feature an idyllic mountain-like setting. These homes will start at around $700,000 and some will top out at $1.3 million. These unique estate homes Will be nestled among trees and along a scenic creek for the ultimate peaceful setting. Homes will average between 3,500 and 4,500 square feet. The pricier and higher end homes in the community along Sugar Creek will potentially be built by custom homebuilder New Old of Fort Mill who would create 14 Southern Living Home Collection houses.

Trinity Ridge is located off of old Springs Road in the southeastern quadrant of Fort Mill. It’s a great community for families, not only because of the neighborhood itself, but also because Fort Mill boasts some of the best schools in the nation. Plus, Fort Mill is one of the fastest growing communities in the region and features plenty of southern hospitality and charm. Major development is happening in York County

Exciting things are happening in and around the Lake Wylie area, and if you have been thinking about moving to the area, now may be the best time yet.

Development plans are in full swing in York County, with major residential projects on the horizon in Lake Wylie, and plenty of commercial construction happening in Fort Mill, as well. There are currently several hundred acres of land up for review for new construction plans across the region.

The southwest corner of US 21 and Gold Hill Road occupying almost 25 acres is tentatively planned for four commercial 30,000-square-foot buildings, plus another 20,000 square-foot building, as well as plenty of parking. The property is currently zoned for residential use but rezoning efforts are in the works. This will be big!

There is also a residential subdivision in the planning stages in Lake Wylie on a piece of property owned by Crescent Communities, a very prominent developer. The proposed site is located at SC 49 and Daimler Boulevard, and plans include the development of single family homes.

There are also plans for an apartment complex at the corner of SC 49 and Senator Road, just east on Mill Pond Road. Furthermore, another car wash could also be moving into the Lake Wylie area on a 15 acre lot on SC 49.

So much growth and development throughout York County shows signs of a strong economy here as well as it being a desirable place to live. Fort Mill is getting a new high school!

There is exciting news for the town of Fort Mill and the families who live there. Fort Mill is getting a new high school! Drawings have recently been submitted for review by the Fort Mill School District which is awaiting approval for the site layout.

The new school will be located on the southwest corner of Fort Mill Parkway and Whites Road, and there will be two entrances off of the bypass to the main building. Plans for the school will include a football stadium, a soccer and lacrosse field, a track space and three practice fields. There will also be a band practice field, as well as baseball, softball and tennis facilities.

Preliminary drawings were released in May and updates came last week. Now, the school district is in a position to proceed with the clearing and grading of the site, so the most updated drawings were voted on and need final approval so that the district can move forward with the site plan, including the access points, driveway locations, building and field locations, and general site layout, in order for permits to be issued.

Plenty of details still have to be finalized, such as the school name, school mascot and color scheme. However, since the high school is not slated to open until 2019, there is plenty of time to iron out the details. From an aesthetic perspective, the current plan depicts a school with a brick veneer and stone accents, as well as fiber cement wall panels.

Fort Mill furthers commercial development plans

The Fort Mill Town Council recently approved the first of two readings that will allow the town to move forward with commercial projects that would occupy more than 40 acres, adding a significant amount of new commercial tax revenue within town limits.

Two projects are in the works—a medical building at Tom Hall Street and Fort Mill Parkway, and an assisted living facility, Haire Village, that will be located on Haire Road.

Both projects will have a commercial tax rate, which is higher then a residential tax rate and will therefore help to offset the cost of providing public services. Neither business anticipates adding to the rush-hour traffic, so residents and roadways should not be inconvenienced by these new buildings.

The future site of the medical building is currently a county-run trash and recycling collection center, which will close, pending the property sale to Carolinas Healthcare.

The Haire Village assisted living facility would have approximately 200 age-restricted units as well as anywhere from 10,000 to 36,000 square feet of retail and office space.

Furthermore, the Fort Mill Town Council also approved plans for a wastewater plant improvement contract of $8.1 million. Another plan was also approved for an engineering design that will increase the wastewater treatment facility’s capacity to 6 million gallons per day. This is a major step in planning for community growth in Fort Mill.

Fort Mill’s Main Street is getting another revamp

A lot of commercial real estate development is about to be underway in Fort Mill on Main Street. Definitive plans are still in the works and there is no confirmation as to the details of the storefronts, however significant change is on the way.

The corner of Main Street and Confederate Street is home to six parcels of land, as well as a parking lot, all on three quarters of an acre.

Current storefronts include the former Knife Shop, Halcyon Hills Photography and Dave’s Comics. The 8,000 square feet of retail space and has been for sale for a while now, and three of the four properties listed are currently under contract.

The owner of the Knife Shop unfortunately passed away earlier this year, thus the store is closed and not reopening. Dave’s Comics is still open and has not received notice of needing to vacate, however the store’s s website discusses closing and talks about a new comic book store that will be potentially opening nearby. Another comic shop is also opening off Main Street this fall, called Nikelspot Comics.

In recent years, Main Street in Fort Mill has seen the addition of restaurants and retail space, as well as new businesses and apartments within walking distance. The sale of and construction on the property at the corner of Main and Confederate Streets would mark the beginning of the next wave of redevelopment here. Plus, earlier this summer, Old Center Theatre on Main began undergoing a major conversion that will ultimately become more than 6,000 square feet of loft style offices and nearly 7,000 square feet of either retail or restaurant space.

Lake Wylie, Fort Mill has tons of commercial development on the horizon

Development projects are on the rise in York County, as all different types of businesses are looking to set up shop there. Fort Mill, in particular, has a lot on the horizon, including a new veterinary hospital that would take over an old nursery that wasn’t able to become a landscaping business. Permitting and building plans are in discussion, but no formal plans have been put into motion. Current zoning of the more than six-acre property allows for a variety of land uses, with animal hospitals and veterinary clinics at the top of the list.

Furthermore, a new Fort Mill office or warehouse building is being considered for the corner of Steele Creek Drive and Pleasant Road. Plans are in the works, and the 27-acre property would be the third office park close to the Pleasant Glen subdivision.

There is also a possible national tire and auto shop for the one-acre site at Charlotte Highway and Carroll Cove Road, where there is also a Taco Bell and a Dunkin’ Donuts on the way. Another Dunkin’ Donuts is also planned for Gold Hill Road half way between Pleasant Road and I-77.

County staff also recently met with developers to discuss a proposed preschool in Lake Wylie on a corner lot in the Shoppes at the Landing, which is located at Nautical Drive and Mill Pond Road.

In one of four rezoning requests by the county, a 1500-square-foot grocery store would be rezoned for use as an office and retail outlet for an appliance and repair company. Another of the four rezoning requests would transition 37 acres from residential to business use for the tract of land west of S.C. 160 across from Brayden between Dave Gibson Boulevard and Len Patterson Drive.
