Neighborhood Spotlight: Timberlake

Close to Lake Wylie in the desirable town of Belmont, you’ll find the neighborhood of Timberlake. It is near to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, Belmont Abbey College, and residents have easy access to Uptown Charlotte and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The vibrant downtown of Belmont is filled with restaurants, shops, and historical character so you can have everything you need without headed into Charlotte. Children here can attend the highly regarded Belmont Schools making Timberlake a true hot spot.

The neighborhood was built in two sections, an original section built in the 1980’s and 1990’s and a newer section built in the early 2000’s up to 2017. Both sections have amazing homes with a variety of sizes and styles. Older homes tend to be smaller, and the newer homes are larger with typically over 3,000 square feet of living space.

Neighborhood Spotlight: Catawba Crest

Catawba Crest has long been a coveted neighborhood for people who want to live on or near Lake Wylie. In the past, around 6 homes changed owners per year. The pandemic halved that figure with just 3 homes sold last year. There is one new construction home currently for sale and one lot for sale and they are both under contract. This demand shows that you have to be ready when one of these amazing homes comes on the market.

Catawba Crest is hidden away on one of the deepest coves on Lake Wylie. Homes here have been designed to take advantage of the lake views with decks, docks, floating docks, boat lifts, and more. For homes without lake frontage, they have two story great rooms, decks, patios, or screened in porches to take advantage of sweeping views from abundant windows.

Most homes were built between 2001 and 2010 but occasionally a lot becomes available for a new construction build. Homes were custom built and typically have well over 3,000 square feet of living space. If you’re looking for a great waterfront neighborhood in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, look no further than Handsmill on Lake Wylie. Handsmill is just 30 minutes from the center of Charlotte, North Carolina, has lower York County taxes, and coveted Clover schools. There are great neighborhood amenities and new construction homes available as well as a few lots left to build your dream home.

Handsmill on Lake Wylie is located off of Handsmill Highway on the South Carolina side of the Lake. It is just a few minutes away from downtown Lake Wylie and close to highway access. There are many nearby restaurants, places to shop, state parks, recreation and all of the conveniences you need.

Community amenities include a community clubhouse with outdoor pool, playground, and fitness center. The neighborhood is gated and also has streetlights for safety. In addition there are walking trails leading to a lake access with community dock and boat slips for lease to residents.

There are currently 7 homes for sale in Handsmill on Lake Wylie and all of them are under contract. There is one lot for sale. Homes with lake frontage command a premium of course and typically list for over $1 million. Interior homes are typically in the $400,000-$600,000 range. In the last year, 13 homes sold in the neighborhood and 5 lots also sold. Sale prices ranged from $460,000 to $1,700,000 for existing homes and $55,000 to $400,000 for lots depending on if they have lake frontage or not.

The motto of Tega Cay is “The Good Life” and Anchorage in Tega Cay is a great place to live that motto. Anchorage has abundant neighborhood amenities, convenient highway access, and feeds to award winning Fort Mill schools.

This amazing neighborhood is located on a peninsula close to many parks, from pocket parks to sports facilities. It is just down the road from Tega Cay Marina and Boat Rentals. It only takes a few minutes to get to shopping and dining options, and an Uptown commute is a breeze.

Amenities in Anchorage include a clubhouse, fitness center, golf course, playground, pool, recreation area, tennis courts, walking trails, and Lake Wylie of course.

Neighborhood Spotlight: Chapel Cove

If you want to be a part of a new lakefront community with great amenities but don’t want the hassle of new construction, check out Chapel Cove. This community has new homes, but is in the last phase of construction so the vehicles and noise will be gone soon. This gives you all the time in the world to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lake lifestyle.

Chapel Cove is located just off Shopton Road West on the North Carolina side of Lake Wylie in the Steele Creek area. Residents can quickly get on the highway for an Uptown commute, head to a sporting event, concert, or shopping trip. There are many nearby options for shopping, dining, entertainment, and outdoor recreation.

Three builders developed the neighborhood, Pulte, Taylor Morrison, and Fielding Homes. This means that there are many different floor plans, options, and styles of homes to choose from. Homes range from 3-5 bedrooms, 2.5-5.5 bathrooms, and 2,800 to over 6,000 square feet. In the past year homes sold for between $325,000 to $725,000 with the average sale price coming in at $460,000.

Neighborhood amenities include a clubhouse with kitchen, fitness rooms, and multi-use club room. Outside you’ll find a swimming pool with splash area, basketball courts, tennis courts, and pickleball courts. There are walking and biking trails winding through the neighborhood with both hard and soft surfaces. Pocket parks are throughout the community as well as a playground. One of the trails will wind through and take you to a kayak and canoe launch with kayaks provided by the neighborhood.
