There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the 12-acre site on N.C. 49 that is bordered by Steele Creek Road and Hoover Creek Boulevard. While the details on this development site have yet to be confirmed, rezoning efforts and city planners are working towards establishing a gourmet grocery store here.
The new development aims to be a focal point for shoppers of both Steele Creek and Lake Wylie, and design plans intend to create a walkable environment featuring a variety of retail.
While the name of the new gourmet grocery store seems to be a bit of a secret, there has been confirmation that it will not be a Whole Foods market. The new grocery store would be part of a 90,000 square-foot development project that would include office as well as retail space. The site is located between RiverGate Shopping Center and Carolinas HealthCare System Steele Creek–a location that has seen some major activity in recent years.
The unnamed gourmet grocery store that will be built here is going to be central to the development project. For more details and information on the project, be sure to read the full article at heraldonline.com, and stay tuned for which grocery store will officially be moving in to Fort Mill.
