Neighborhood spotlight: Clarabella

Clarabella is a beautiful community located in the growing Southwest Charlotte region in the Lake Wylie/Steele Creek area. Infrastructure improvement and more development coming to Fort Mill

A major improvement is going to be taking place in Fort Mill, further strengthening the town’s infrastructure. The Fort Mill Southern Bypass projects will finally be completed as the intersection of Fort Mill Parkway and Spratt Road gets a major upgrade.

York County just purchased 11 acres of land at the aforementioned intersection for $1.43 million. Improvement project plans will include not only the bypass, but also a pedestrian tunnel. The purchase of the land was necessary for bypass expansion so there can be five lanes. Construction of the road will only take up approximately half of the purchased land, leaving prime commercial real estate on a corner lot on commercially zoned property.

Improvement at the intersection will help to alleviate traffic concerns that have been a problem there. This will become increasingly more important as new housing and business developments are being built on neighboring properties. The bypass project’s design is only approximately 70% complete, so it will still take some time for construction to begin and for the new and improved roadway to be finished.

Mediterranean dining comes to Tega Cay

Did somebody say “Gyro”?
It’s always exciting when a new addition to the local dining scene offers something a bit different from everything else around. Well, there’s a recent restaurant opening in Tega Cay that offers a cuisine that is new to the area with food that is fast, fresh and delicious. The Greek restaurant Greco Fresh Grille offers homemade food made from scratch, and it is already a big neighborhood hit.

The menu features lamb, chicken and falafel platters served with Greek salad and house – cut fries that come in three flavors. The hummus on the menu also comes in three delicious flavors. On the menu, you will also find gyros with tzatziki sauce, as well as spinach pie, salads, kebabs, baklava and more, all showcasing the flavors of classic Mediterranean food.

Job opportunities coming to Fort Mill area

Plenty of job opportunities are about to become available in Fort Mill. Although the positions are temporary, they offer a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a major Carolina landmark and institution.

Carowinds, which sits at the border between North Carolina and South Carolina between Charlotte and Fort Mill, is a 398-acre amusement park that is a well-known favorite among locals and tourists alike.

The ever popular theme park will be filling over 4,000 positions ahead of the 2017 season, ranging from entry-level roles to managerial positions. The entertainment department of the theme park is looking for comedic actors and variety performers, as well as singers and dancers. Auditions for the theme park’s live shows will be held on Saturday, February 4, Sunday, February 5, and Saturday, February 11, with registration taking place from 1-4pm.

Positions are also available for mascot characters as well as in admissions, cash services, food and beverage, guest services, human resources, marketing, maintenance and many more.

Carowinds is comprised of a variety of “mini parks” including a “County Fair” that has plenty of amusement rides and four new attractions that were added this year. Winterfest at the park pays tribute to the holiday season in a winter wonderland setting. Carolina Harbor is touted as one of the best water parks in the country with attractions for kids and adults alike. Lake Wylie and Fort Mill boast strong market stats

The housing market in the Charlotte region as a whole is thriving, and that could not be more true for towns like Lake Wylie and Fort Mill. Even with low inventory, there were more than 44,000 homes sales in the overall Charlotte region in 2016, which is up over 8% from 2015.

Local numbers are even better. In York and Lancaster Counties, Lake Wylie had the highest home prices and the largest increase from 2015. pending sales and new listings had the biggest increase in Fort Mill. A big contributing factor to these numbers is the abundance of brand new subdivisions. York County as a whole had the most closed sales, as home sales here outpaced the overall region.

The housing market for the entire Charlotte region is looking good for 2017. Mortgage rates, though on the rise, will still be at historic lows. And, even though low inventory will still mean a seller’s market, buyers will still be looking for properties that sellers have invested in, thus making sellers still having to compete for buyer’s attention.

The market will certainly be competitive, and with such strong market stats for Lake Wylie and Fort Mill, homes will most likely not stay on the market long here. Neighborhood spotlight: Lake Ridge at Tega Cay

Lake Ridge at Tega Cay is a master-planned community that offers a small-town feel with big city accessibility  Residents here can take advantage of South Carolina’s low taxes, fantastic shopping and recreation, and arguably one of the best school districts in the state. The area offers tons of natural beauty with plenty of parks, walking trails and more.

New age-restricted housing coming to Fort Mill

Along Banks Street and Academy Street in Fort Mill is the old Fort Mill high school site. That is soon to be home to a redevelopment project that would build 51 single-family homes on approximately 13 acres of land. The housing would be age-restricted, and strategically s, in order to not add any additional students to the Fort Mill school district. This age-restricted development will also further help to enhance and revitalize this area of Fort Mill.
The gym portion of the old high school, which still remains even while the rest of the school was demolished  has been leased to the town of Fort Mill for use by the parks and recreation offices and for some recreation programs in the city.

The new development plan that would build the age-restricted homes would call to take down the high school gym, which occupies nearly seven acres. A final decision on the rezoning and approval of this project will be made as early as February 13, with final details, dates and development plans still to be determined. Let’s check in with Heron Cove on Lake Wylie, a private residential community that features beautiful custom homes on a quiet peninsula. Lot sizes here are generous and the neighborhood focuses on preserving the serene quality of the area. Homes average approximately 4,000 square feet and are new-construction masterpieces. They are beautifully charming and immaculately designed with so much attention to detail.
