Graystone Estates is located in a small enclave just off South Point Road near the intersection with Henry Chapel Road. This cul-de-sac neighborhood has around 45 homes that are convenient to shopping, dining, entertainment, churches, and much more. Downtown Belmont is a quick drive up the road and has many quaint shops, great restaurants, Belmont Abbey and College, Greenway access, and community events.    Highway access is quick to get to and will connect you with Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Uptown Charlotte, and much more. In the next few years, light rail is expected to come to Belmont which should give residents another option for an Uptown trip or commute.

Children in Graystone Estates are currently zoned for Belmont Central Elementary School, Belmont Middle School, and South Point High School. Please verify school assignments as zoning boundaries occasionally cut through neighborhoods.

Homes in Graystone Estates are large in scale with most homes having between 2,800 and 3,400 square feet of living space. Vaulted ceilings, grand entryways, gourmet kitchens, sumptuous master suites and more are standard in most homes. All homes are four sides brick with at least a 2-car side-load garage. Many of the homes have the master suite on the main level with additional bedrooms on the second floor. Homes were built in the early 2000’s and many have been remodeled and updated since that time.

In the past year, homes in Graystone Estates have sold in the $355,000 to $515,000 range with an average price of $437,250. There are currently two homes on the market representing a 6 month supply of homes. This compares to the 5.7 month supply in Belmont and the 4.2 month supply in Gaston County. Average price per square foot for the last year has been at $137.32. The two current listings have an average list price just over $400,000.

The hope for the South Carolina marketing agency that coined the phrase — and the Gaston County business and political leaders footing the bill — is that the two words will tell people that Gaston offers not just outdoor recreation, but a quality of life unattainable in Charlotte.

Billboards to be placed along Interstates 85 and 74 and an almost 4-minute video were unveiled at the Gastonia Conference Center on Wednesday.

The cost for the three year campaign is $900,000 of which almost $1 million has been raised and promised including $225,000 from private investors. The rest comes from a mix including Gaston County Travel and Tourism, as well as Gastonia, Belmont, Mount Holly and other cities.

The initiative was launched in response to a 2015 survey commissioned by the Greater Gaston Development Corp. The survey showed that people in the Charlotte region had little or no thoughts about Gaston. Developers and investors saw the county negatively.

Gaston Outside wants to celebrate all of the people, places, businesses and natural beauty in Gaston County. If it is successful, the hope is to draw more businesses and residents to the area to help bolster the local economy, tax base, and help the area flourish.

Gaston County does have some pretty great things going for it including great outdoor living, charming towns and municipalities, strong educational programs, business friendly policies, and proximity to Charlotte. This campaign hopes to make more people aware of them. This could be a boon to existing homeowners as more people moving into the area could boost home values. It could also mean more options as developers try and build to keep up with increased demand.

As Gaston Outside says “No matter what your idea of a good time looks like, you’re bound to find it in Gaston County.” From hiking, paddling and cycling to vibrant local culture and arts, Gaston county’s opportunities for fun are endless. Hopefully it won’t be long before the campaign reaps rewards and there will be an influx of new people, energy, and opportunities in real estate.

Lakewood is a quiet, mature community on the heavily-wooded peninsula formed by the South Fork Catawba River.

The neighborhood is a mix of small, older homes built in the 1940s through the 1980s with styles that range from traditional brick ranches and two-story homes to more contemporary homes. Many of the homes need updating or a little TLC, but the majority has been well maintained. 

Lakewood is ideally located south of Wilkinson Boulevard and I-85 in close proximity to Cramerton and historic downtown Belmont. Its prime location makes it easy to shop for everyday necessities or grab a meal out. Downtown Belmont is less than 3 miles away. A trip to Charlotte Douglas airport is about 15 minutes, and an Uptown commute is less than 30 minutes without traffic.

Unlike newer planned communities, Lakewood does not have any amenities for residents. However, its proximity to Charlotte, Belmont and Gastonia give residents plenty of options for shopping, dining, fitness and getting outside to enjoy nature.

Kings and Crowders Mountain state parks are to the west on I-85, both about 30 minutes away. For running or biking trails or riding the rapids, the U.S. National Whitewater Center is only a 20-minute drive from Lakewood.

If you want to head out on Lake Wylie for the day, public boat ramp access is 8 miles south on Southpoint Road.

Homes in Lakewood are priced in the $100,000s to mid-$200,000s. There are a wide variety of home sizes, though few homes are larger than 3,000 square feet and most are less than 2,200 square feet.

A total of 11 homes sold in Lakewood during the last 12 months, and there are currently no homes listed on the market.

The highest price of a home sold in Lakewood during the last year was $242,400. The lowest price was $115,000.

The average price of homes sold is $163,629 and approximately $90 per square foot. Sales averaged about 96% of list price.

Homes in Lakewood are zoned for Gaston County’s Belmont Central Elementary, Belmont Middle School and Stuart Cramer High School, which is a short walk from any home in Lakewood.

There are truly some great older homes in Lakewood in an area that is protected from further development due to the river around it and the park space to the south.  If you want a quiet, mature place to make a home and raise a family, then Lakewood is definitely worth a look!

The waterfront community is just 10 minutes south of historic downtown Belmont via Southpoint Road and has 362 home sites for your perfect custom home. You can bring in your own builder or choose from the community’s list of approved builders. There are many homes already built but also many lots available.

Reflection Pointe’s location is fantastic with only a 30 minute commute into Center City and about 25 minutes to Charlotte Douglas airport. Both Wilkinson Boulevard and I-85 can bring you to I-485 loop.

Community amenities include a freeform, lagoon-style swimming pool, clubhouse, lighted tennis courts, paved walking trails, recreation field, playground and a marina with deeded boat slips and a sandy beach.

Some of the builders that have built custom homes in the neighborhood are McSpadden Custom Homes, Rouse Builders and Yeary Homes.

Interior homes start in the $400,000s, and waterfront homes are $900,000 and up. Lots are priced from $150,000 to $450,000 for dockable waterfront and $50,000 to $100,000 for interior lots.

Three resale homes sold during the last 12 months in Reflection Pointe for an average sales price of $845,000 and $162 per square foot. Two of the homes sold were waterfront properties; one sold for $1.3 million and the other $870,000. The interior home sold for $365,000.

There are currently 8 homes listed for sale in Reflection Pointe.

Four of the properties are waterfront – 3 resale homes and 1 pre-construction home. The waterfront home list prices range from $839,000 to $1 million. Two are under contract as of April 7.

One beautiful water view resale home is listed for $850,000.

The remaining 3 homes for sale are interior resale homes and range in list price from $499,900 to $630,000.

Misty Waters is a gated, waterfront community located along Lower Armstrong Road just before the bridge leading to South New Hope Road and the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

The neighborhood, developed in the early 2000s, gives residents the best of both worlds being located along the waterfront of beautiful Lake Wylie and still officially in Belmont and part of Belmont’s great school system as well as Gaston County’s lower taxes.

The serene, natural surroundings of the neighborhood were preserved as much as possible in developing lots for building. Additionally, the neighborhood has strict architectural guidelines for construction in keeping with the style and aesthetic of the neighborhood.

It is a short drive from Misty Waters to I-85, I-485 and Highway 74/Wilkerson Boulevard, which makes for a relatively easy commute to Uptown Charlotte for work or play. Charlotte Douglas airport is only about 30 minutes away. For everyday activities, quaint downtown Belmont is less 6 miles to the north.

Homes in Misty Waters must be at least 2,200 square feet and most are on lots of an acre.

Misty Waters has a lakefront clubhouse, swimming pool, walking trails and community boat dock/marina for residents living on interior lots. Waterfront homes have private docks and/or lifts.

Interior homes range in price from the $450,000s to $600,000, while waterfront homes are typically upward of $1 million.

Only 4 homes have sold in Misty Waters in the last 2 years. The average sales price and size of those properties was $716,875 and 4,721 square feet.

Currently, there are 4 properties listed for sale in Misty Waters. None of the properties is under contract as of March 27.

Two of the homes listed are beautiful waterfront properties.

The highest-priced home is listed for nearly $2 million and includes a guest house, dock and boat lift, and more than 6,800 square feet of living space. Misty Waters is a spectacular waterfront community that gives all residents access to the lake and the beautiful natural setting that surrounds it.

Spring means it is almost time to get on the water and enjoy lake life!!

Just a quick walk from historic downtown Belmont is Hawthorne, which bills itself as Gaston County’s first traditional home development.

The land, located between South Main Street and Keener Boulevard, is the original location of the mill homes for employees who worked at Pharr Yarns’ Imperial Mill.

In 1999, the owners of Pharr Yarns began developing Hawthorne with the idea of keeping the close-knit community feeling of the old mill village. With their builder, they created a neighborhood of 26 luxury town homes and 72 single-family homes. The project was completed in 2007.

All the residences include private courtyards, rear-facing garages with access from alleyways, brick construction and porches. Hawthorne Park with its walkings trails also serves as the centerpiece of the community.

Single-family homes originally sold for $250,000 to $600,000. Townhomes ranged from $245,000 to $350,000.

Currently, there are 2 single-family homes listed for sale in Hawthorne. Both homes were built in 2006 and are similar in size at about 2,400 square feet.

In the last 12 months, 7 single-family homes have sold in the Hawthorne neighborhood or an average of 0.6 homes per month. Current inventory for the neighborhood is 3.4 months.
The average for all of Belmont is 4.3 months. Gaston County is at 5.5 months inventory.

The average sales price of a Hawthorne home is $417,200 and nearly $135 per square foot.

Hawthorne is just 20 minutes from the Charlotte Douglas airport and a little more than 30 minutes from downtown Charlotte. Just north on Keener Boulevard is Wilkinson Boulevard and I-85. Both provide convenient access to the city.

Just a quick walk outside Hawthorne is the quaint downtown Belmont area. It is home to local boutiques and restaurants as well as several parks within walking distance. The U.S. National Whitewater Center is just 9 miles to the northeast. Belmont is home to Belmont Abbey College and the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, among other wonderful recreational options and destinations.

Begun in 2006, Eagle Park is in the heart of Belmont and within walking distance of Main Street’s charming local shops and restaurants.

Nearby destinations include the Carolina Thread Trail, which is a regional network of greenways and trails; Belmont Abbey College; the U.S. National Whitewater Center; Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and Crowders Mountain State Park.

However, you do not have to go far to find things to keep active. Neighborhood amenities include a playground, dog park, pool, clubhouse and fitness center. Additionally, the community  is bordered by Belmont Central Elementary and Stuart Cramer High School, so residents have access to those surrounding trails and fields.

Eagle Park homes were built by some of the area’s finest builders – David Weekley Homes, Brookline Homes, Westwood General Contractors and Simonini Group.

Together, these builders contributed more than 12 floor plans from which to choose and customize. The neighborhood blends single-family homes, cottage-style homes and townhomes. The townhomes were built by Westwood General Contractors.

The homes in Eagle Park vary in size from about 1,700 square feet to the high 2,000s in size.

There are resale homes and new construction single-family homes and townhomes available for sale in Eagle Park.

Only seven homes sold in the neighborhood in the last year, averaging a sales price of just over $240,000. The average price per square foot is approximately $130.

There are currently 15 Eagle Park properties listed for sale, which is about 6 months of inventory (not including townhomes) for the community. Five of the residences are under contract as of Feb. 26. Nine properties listed for sale are townhomes, which range from 1,280 square feet to about 1,700 square feet.

Eagle Park is zoned for Page Primary for prekindergarten to 1st grade; Belmont Central Elementary for 2nd to 5th grade and located adjacent to Eagle Park; Belmont Middle School, serving 6th grade to 8th grade; and Stuart Cramer High School, also adjacent to Eagle Park.

Metro Charlotte is about 20 minutes away, but on a clear day you can enjoy a skyline view of the city without the traffic!

If you are looking for lakeside new construction in Belmont then look no further than The Peninsula on Bayshore. There are floor plans and price points to suit most families.

The neighborhood is located off South New Hope Road just north and across from Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

When you are ready to move into your new lakeside home, you will find the location is convenient to many nearby amenities. Downtown Belmont is convenient across the Armstrong Road bridge, and from there the Charlotte metro area is just about 25 minutes away.

If you happen to live and work in Belmont or the area then the beautiful, historic downtown area has plenty of local shops and businesses to keep you busy.

In the summer, the lake will be calling and you will be steps away from its shores. Based on the information from builder LiveWell Homes, there are water view lots but no waterfront lots. There are established homes not part of The Peninsula neighborhood that occupy the shoreline lots.

LiveWell did not provide information regarding community boat storage plans or water access/docks. Should there be no neighborhood access, the nearest public boat ramp is just down the road across the Armstrong Road bridge at the Allen Fishing access area.

Only new homes and lots are currently available in The Peninsula on Bayshore.

There are 14 home styles to choose from and customize on one-acre partially wooded lots. The builder offers 4 levels of homes – Cafe, Classic, Cottage and Estate series. Sizes range from 2,288 square feet to more than 3,700 square feet. Prices start in the $290,000s and go up to the high $300,000s.

One completed home sale has closed in the last 12 months. According to LiveWell’s web site, there are 13 other lots also sold as of Feb. 21.

The neighborhood is zoned for New Hope Elementary, Cramerton Middle and South Point High School.

LiveWell is one of the builders in Lake Wylie’s Palm Tree Cove II and The Retreat at Sunset Ridge. This is the company’s first community in Belmont.

Downtown Belmont has a small town feel with locally owned boutiques, restaurants and a general store. Rest assured, you can still find modern-day services and amenities, too. It’s also home to the gorgeous Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and Belmont Abbey College, a private liberal arts Catholic college.

The town is great for outdoor recreational activities and raising a family.

Getting to and from Belmont in Gaston County is a breeze. Interstate 85 passes through, as does Wilkinson Boulevard (US-74). Charlotte/Douglas airport is just 7 miles to the East.

Belmont is situated on a peninsula of land formed by the Catawba River and one of its tributaries, the South Fork Catawba River.

As of Jan. 13, there are 184 properties listed for sale in Belmont. Several of those homes are waterfront. There are also a few new construction waterfront homes in McLean, South Shore and The Conservancy neighborhoods, located southwest of downtown Belmont near the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

List prices range from nearly $2 million for a 6,800-square-foot-plus 2005 waterfront home in Misty Waters subdvision to under $30,000 for a small inland home that is north of I-85 toward Mt. Holly.

There are currently a total of 95 waterfront homes listed on all of Lake Wylie, with an average price of nearly $780,000.

Eighty-seven percent of the homes sold in Gaston County in 2015 fell into the less than $250,000 category. The $250,000 to $500,000 range accounted for 12.4% of the market, and the remaining 0.5% went to homes $500,000-$1 million and above.
